Director of Communications
Alex hails from the metrowest suburbs of Boston and brings a diverse work experience to her role as Director of Communications. As someone who was fortunate to grow up with socioeconomic privilege and significant access to opportunity, she is committed to expanding her awareness of inequality and contributing to a more inclusive future for all. With her background in environmental studies and a life-long love of nature, Alex is particularly interested in how climate change and sustainability may increasingly have a role to play in dialogues about social equity and inclusion.
Professionally, Alex was the Operations Coordinator for Niche Plant Shop for two years, an evolving and multifaceted role that included running communications for the shop’s two locations. Prior to that, Alex worked for four years as the Communications Manager at Stock Rover, a research platform for independent investors. At Stock Rover, she ran training webinars, wrote educational blog posts about investing, and managed the email communications program. As an intern with the Cambridge Energy Alliance, a City of Cambridge program, she redesigned the CEA website and assisted with a variety of outreach efforts.
Alex has an M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Washington University in St. Louis. Since high school, she has worked on and off in food service. Currently, she works part-time in the kitchen of acclaimed Cambridge restaurant Bondir.
Her extra-curriculars include creative writing, cooking, and hanging out with cats.
It is not our differences that divide us.
It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.
